Lead Instrumentation & Controls Engineer – Nuclear

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Enhance and modernize nuclear power plants utilizing the latest control technologies.

• Lead and support both small and large control projects, emphasizing technical execution and project management.

• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and structural teams to successfully complete projects.

• Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve controls engineering challenges.

• Design digital systems, which include PLC, DCS, HSI, and networked computer systems.

• Draft control system functional and implementation requirements as well as procurement specifications.

• Engage with clients to ensure effective project execution and high levels of client satisfaction.

• Create and review technical reports, calculations, and studies.

• Manage resources and resource allocation, while developing task completion estimates and budgets.

• Assist in the development of proposals.

• Prepare and assess diagrams and drawings for new and upgraded control solutions.

• Critically evaluate vendor bids from a technical standpoint.

• Interface with vendors, review documentation, ensure compliance of equipment, and observe FAT performance.

• Facilitate project implementation at client locations.

• Lead automation and process improvement initiatives and supervise the use of AI or agentic AI tools while verifying results.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program.

• Over 10 years of experience in designing instrumentation and control systems within a project team environment for commercial and industrial applications.

• Expertise in integrated and detailed system design modifications.

• Strong ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written forms.

• Technical knowledge of available equipment and proven pre-engineered systems for effective systems design execution.

• Experience acting as the firm's client liaison in a support or lead engineering capacity.

• Proficient in reviewing design documentation.

• Willingness or capability to lead others using modern tools like automation and AI to enhance workflows.

• Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.
