This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Take charge of the design for essential features of our solutions.

• Organise and supervise the tasks of a small team of engineers.

• Ensure adherence to coding and testing standards.

• Oversee the complete solution design for new features within a specified architectural framework.

• Make practical decisions regarding trade-offs (scope, performance, scalability, security) in a dynamic environment.

• Serve as the daily technical and delivery lead for a team of engineers.

• Define and manage workflows: decompose Product Requirement Documents and user stories into clear tasks, estimate effort, set priorities and timelines, and monitor progress to guarantee timely delivery.

• Facilitate or participate in ceremonies (stand-ups, planning, reviews) to keep work aligned and swiftly address issues.

• Assume responsibility for complex or high-impact tasks, particularly when architecture, integrations, or performance considerations are significant.

• Design, build, and enhance the customer journeys of our service using our technology stack: Backend: Python; Frontend: React + Flutter; Data/Infra: Postgres, AWS (S3, ECS, etc.).

• Produce high-quality, testable code and contribute to our continuous integration and deployment pipelines.

• Take ownership of technical design within a small, agile team.

• Assist in evolving our platform architecture for performance, resilience, observability, and security as we grow.

• Identify and promote enhancements to developer experience, tools, and internal processes (e.g., testing, release, monitoring, on-call), in collaboration with both in-house and outsourced engineers.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (e.g., a reputable coding bootcamp) or equivalent practical experience.

• Over 7 years of experience in designing, developing, shipping, and maintaining backend applications using Python and frontend web applications with modern JavaScript frameworks (preferably React.js), including leadership roles.

• Proven experience in leading a team’s work – including planning and prioritising tasks, facilitating ceremonies/stand-ups, reviewing deliverables, and ensuring timely, high-quality outputs across different time zones.

• Strong expertise in both Python and React, with some familiarity with AWS hosting/backend services.

• Significant experience with agentic coding tools.

• Proficient in designing, building, and maintaining automated tests and contributing to CI pipelines.

• Experience collaborating with other developers in an agile environment (e.g., sprints, stand-ups, retrospectives).

• Skilled in debugging and resolving live incidents under time constraints, and in enhancing systems/processes to prevent future occurrences.

• Familiarity with continuous deployment pipelines (you don’t need to build everything yourself, but should be comfortable working within and enhancing such frameworks).

• Strong understanding of industry trends and development best practices, particularly regarding security, application performance, and scalability.

• A strong sense of ownership, meticulous attention to detail, and the capacity to work independently while maintaining a team-oriented mindset.

• Excellent communication skills for effective teamwork and collaboration, with confidence in engaging with customers and partners in a technical leadership role.

• Proactive in initiating improvements and offering assistance without being prompted.

• Comfortable using AI code development tools.
