This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.
• Assist in the development, simulation, integration, and testing of FPGA for instrumentation and control electronic systems.
• Create, update, and review documentation related to FPGA design, including design specifications, test specifications, requirements, and traceability documentation.
• Conduct FPGA design and verification utilizing languages and methodologies such as VHDL, SystemVerilog, and UVM.
• Provide support for simulation, debugging, root cause analysis, and resolution of issues related to FPGA design or verification.
• Engage in FPGA design flow activities, which encompass design implementation, simulation, synthesis, timing analysis, integration, and test support.
• Assist in the development and execution of both informal and formal test campaigns for FPGA and hardware products.
• Prepare, develop, and assist in engineering test fixtures, test tools, simulations, and related hardware/software for the development of I&C electronic systems.
• Offer technical leadership and oversee daily coordination for a team of FPGA, hardware, and test engineers.
• Manage sprint execution, task coordination, delivery commitments, and visibility into schedules for assigned work.
• Aid in translating program requirements and technical objectives into actionable engineering tasks.
• Promote accountability, eliminate roadblocks, and facilitate consistent progress across design, verification, integration, and testing activities.
• Mentor engineers by providing technical direction, utilizing subject matter experts, and assisting the team in making sound engineering decisions.
• Balance technical risks, program priorities, and resource requirements to ensure timely, high-quality delivery.
• Act as the primary technical contact for program management, customers, and internal stakeholders on a daily basis.
• Clearly and professionally communicate progress, risks, blockers, and mitigation strategies.
• Support technical interchange meetings, sprint reviews, design reviews, test readiness reviews, and milestone assessments.
• Collaborate across FPGA, hardware, systems, software, and testing organizations to maintain alignment throughout the entire development lifecycle.
• Review technical approaches, design decisions, verification plans, and testing strategies with the engineering team.
• Identify technical risk areas early and assist in mitigation planning with senior engineers and subject matter experts.
• Ensure that engineering work adheres to applicable QDSS processes, customer expectations, and quality standards.
• Support integration planning, test readiness, troubleshooting, and issue resolution during critical phases of development.
• Cultivate a collaborative, high-performance team environment centered on technical quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
• 5+ years of experience in FPGA design, FPGA verification, digital hardware development, hardware testing, or relevant engineering roles.
• At least 2+ years of prior experience leading a small technical team, mentoring engineers, coordinating sprint execution, or managing technical task priorities.
• Practical experience with FPGA design and verification using VHDL, SystemVerilog, UVM, or similar languages and methodologies.
• Familiarity with FPGA and hardware development lifecycles, including requirements, design, verification, validation, integration, and test documentation.
• Capability to troubleshoot FPGA, hardware, or verification issues through simulation, lab integration, debugging, and root cause analysis.
• Experience in supporting formal or informal test campaigns for hardware, FPGA, or electronic systems.
• Ability to provide technical direction, coordinate engineering tasks, mentor team members, or lead technical workstreams.
• Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with program leadership, customers, stakeholders, and cross-functional engineering teams.
• Experience in a structured, regulated, safety-critical, mission-critical, or quality-driven engineering environment.
• U.S. citizenship or U.S. permanent residency is mandatory.
• Willingness to travel approximately 10 to 15% during testing, integration, and key design phases as required.
