This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maryland.
• Lead the creation of Fishery Management Plans (FMPs), amendments, and regulatory action packages.
• Formulate management alternatives, recommendations, and presentations.
• Supervise scientific analysis, technical writing, and NEPA compliance.
• Collaborate with NMFS Regional Offices, Atlantic HMS, and headquarters personnel.
• Evaluate scientific studies and regulatory analyses for precision and alignment with policy.
• Manage Administrative Records and clearance packages.
• Facilitate the swift execution of management measures.
• Engage in Fishery Management Council processes.
• Provide leadership and ensure quality control for analyst staff.
• Deliverables include FMPs and regulatory amendments, NEPA environmental analyses, Administrative Records and clearance packages, technical analyses and reports, and monthly progress reports.
• Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in fisheries science, marine biology, environmental science, natural resource management, public policy, or a related discipline.
• Proven experience in developing Fishery Management Plans or amendments.
• Knowledge of the Magnuson-Stevens Act and NEPA.
• Experience assisting NMFS, Regional Offices, or Fishery Management Councils.
• Background in leading fisheries management action development or regulatory analysis.
• Excellent technical writing, analytical, and coordination abilities.
• Capable of synthesizing scientific and policy-related information.
• A minimum of seven (7) years of experience in leading or supporting fisheries management actions.
