This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Lead and guide a team of field PLC engineers, offering technical direction and facilitating professional growth.
• Allocate resources and synchronize field activities across various simultaneous projects.
• Perform performance assessments and provide continuous coaching to team members.
• Enhance the team's technical skills through practical training and knowledge sharing.
• Set technical standards, best practices, and quality benchmarks for PLC field operations.
• Act as the primary escalation point for intricate technical issues that necessitate expert resolution.
• Oversee the deployment and commissioning of sophisticated PLC systems for critical data center facilities.
• Program, troubleshoot, and enhance PLC logic for HVAC, mechanical, and electrical control systems on-site.
• Address the most complex technical challenges, including redundancy failures, communication network issues, and intricate control sequence errors.
• Conduct advanced point-to-point verification and validation of vital control systems.
• Provide expert-level assistance during system start-up, commissioning, and turnover processes.
• Diagnose and rectify complex installation issues during both static and dynamic commissioning.
• Coordinate activities of the field PLC team with project timelines and client needs.
• Review and endorse commissioning plans, testing procedures, and PLC programming modifications.
• Ensure that all field operations adhere to quality standards, documentation prerequisites, and client specifications.
• Conduct technical evaluations of team members' outputs and offer corrective advice as necessary.
• Identify and alleviate technical risks during the deployment and commissioning stages.
• Monitor project progress and report updates to the Field Engineering Manager.
• Serve as the primary technical contact for clients during PLC commissioning processes.
• Facilitate technical discussions with clients, contractors, and vendors to address integration challenges.
• Offer technical training and support to client operations teams during turnover activities.
• Engage in design reviews and technical planning sessions.
• Foster strong client relationships through technical expertise and responsive assistance.
• Represent field PLC capabilities in client meetings and project planning discussions.
• Document technical solutions, lessons learned, and best practices for team reference.
• Develop and maintain technical procedures, troubleshooting manuals, and training resources.
• Propel continuous improvement initiatives based on field insights and emerging technologies.
• Remain updated on Rockwell Automation enhancements, PLC programming methodologies, and industry standards.
• Contribute to the internal knowledge base and technical documentation systems.
• Over 7 years of experience as a PLC Programmer/Engineer with substantial field deployment and commissioning expertise.
• At least 2 years of experience in technical leadership or team lead roles, preferably in field operations.
• Expert-level knowledge of Studio 5000 / Rockwell Automation software in both field and production environments.
• Extensive hands-on experience in commissioning intricate chiller, boiler, and central plant systems.
• Advanced knowledge of redundancy strategies, redundant PLC controller managers, and failover systems.
• Proven capability to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to PLC logic, hardware, and communication networks.
• Strong leadership and mentoring skills with the ability to cultivate technical talent.
• Excellent communication abilities for engaging both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Capacity to manage multiple field projects and coordinate resources across a distributed team.
• Willingness and ability to travel 40-50%, including extended site assignments during critical phases.
• A valid driver's license and the ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.
• OSHA 10 certification obtained within the past two (2) years is required. If certification is not current or has not been completed, OSHA 10 training will be provided and must be successfully completed within the first week of employment.
