Lead Engineer – Substation Protection & Control

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Tennessee.

📋 Description

• Oversee a team of protection and control engineers, engineering technicians, and drafting technicians throughout the project proposal to as-built phase.

• Collaborate with Substation Physical Engineering, Relay Settings, and other departments to ensure alignment in design.

• Create comprehensive engineering design packages for protective relaying and communication systems.

• Develop SCADA packages, which include input/output lists (Point Data Sheet).

• Offer technical guidance and on-the-job training to drafters, engineering technicians, and junior engineers.

• Cultivate and sustain relationships with senior engineers, managers, executives, and current or potential clients.

• Present technical solutions to key clients and address any technical inquiries and concerns.

• Lead or engage in client meetings and site visits to gather or convey design and engineering information.

• Ensure that QA/QC processes are adhered to for all design packages.

• Delegate tasks, plan, prioritize, and review the work of fellow engineers.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) is required; Civil Engineering degrees will also be taken into account.

• An MS Degree in Engineering may substitute for the BS Engineering degree.

• International Engineering Degrees are acceptable.

• A minimum of seven years of experience in electrical engineering is preferred.

• Experience in protection and control engineering is mandatory.

• Professional Engineer (PE) registration or a plan to obtain registration is necessary.

• A valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record are required.

• Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation is expected.

• Strong analytical and computer skills are essential.
