
Lead Engineer – Substation Physical Design

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida, +2 more states.
• Design substations in accordance with relevant codes and client standards.
• Develop general arrangements, equipment and electrical layouts, elevation views, cable trenches, grounding, conduit drawings, details, bills of material, and both AC and DC power systems.
• Create ground grids utilizing applicable codes and industry-standard software.
• Formulate lightning protection and grounding plans.
• Conduct calculations for AC and DC load, bus span, and ampacity.
• Generate equipment and material specifications for the procurement of engineered equipment.
• Establish design scopes and prepare cost estimates.
• Complete conceptual designs and layouts for facility planning studies.
• Compile support documentation for procurement, construction, and operation/maintenance.
• Lead and/or engage in client meetings and site visits.
• Ensure adherence to QA/QC processes for design packages.
• A Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering is required.
• At least 6+ years of experience in substation physical design.
• Direct experience with electrical systems, preferably within utility environments.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
• Skilled in Microsoft Office applications.
• Exceptional document management and organizational capabilities.
• High attention to detail.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and manage various projects and deadlines.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
• A Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
