Lead Engineer, Software – ZOS Senior Administrator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.

📋 Description

• Analyze environments and issues, and create automated solutions.

• Provide leadership by supporting less experienced colleagues and acting as a backup to the manager.

• Offer on-call support on a rotating schedule.

• Deliver weekend and off-shift assistance as necessary for critical changes and upgrades.

• Collaborate effectively with team members and other FIS teams globally.

• Engage with IBM and peers to enhance knowledge and improve the automation and monitoring environment.

• Work with IBM to troubleshoot and refine the automation and monitoring software.

• Conduct knowledge transfer and training for coworkers and other groups as required.

• Write, maintain, and document PIPE, REXX, and Assembler code.

• Standardize automation practices across 2+ sites, encompassing approximately 20 sysplexes and 65 LPARs (currently).

• Update SA policy whenever possible based on best practices.

• Execute System Automation (SA) and NetView upgrades.

• Create 'help' procedures in NetView HELP panels.

• Integrate SA with Omegamon.

• Develop TEPS-Omegamon situations for the mainframe.

• Transition from other automation tools as necessary.

• Document team procedures.

⛳️ Requirements

• College Degree or equivalent professional experience.

• 8-10 years of experience in SA administration for ZOS; knowledge of OPSMVS automation and Omegamon is advantageous.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a style that allows for the clear, concise, and unambiguous conveyance of technical information.

• Capable of effectively communicating to diverse audiences in group presentation settings.

• Possess a demeanor and communication style suitable for client-facing interactions.

• Self-motivated, able to thrive in a fast-paced environment, and manage multiple tasks while meeting deadlines.

• Function effectively as a team member in a multi-group, multi-team environment.

• Proficient in Microsoft PC products such as MS-Word and MS-EXCEL.

• Have operational or programming experience in a z/OS environment, including familiarity with JCL, DFDSS, and other utilities.

• Experience in developing and executing test plans and verification scripts.
