This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.
• Take ownership of platform architecture, technical patterns, methodologies, and guidelines.
• Develop production-ready proof of concepts.
• Ensure that technical documentation and runbooks are created, assigned to repository owners, and kept up to date.
• Anticipate the impacts of changes across systems and guide decision-making regarding trade-offs.
• Establish technical standards and practices that enhance developer operational efficiency.
• Oversee tooling, frameworks, automation, and AI strategies to ensure safe and rapid delivery.
• Evaluate and recommend whether to build or buy platform tools.
• Manage instrumentation and observability utilizing Honeycomb and the underlying platform layers.
• Lead requirements related to security, reliability, performance, maintainability, and scalability.
• Oversee cutover and deployment procedures for complex migrations, starting with the decommissioning of CRM.
• Establish code review standards and offer technical mentorship to the team in Nepal.
• Ensure that backend systems are maintained and extended by at least two engineers.
• Provide assessments of technical feasibility, costs, and alternatives for product initiatives prior to commitment.
• Proven track record of owning outcomes from start to finish.
• Commitment to reliability and meeting established timelines and deadlines.
• Demonstrated curiosity when receiving feedback and resilience in high-pressure situations.
• Ability to manage architectural responsibilities across six or more services simultaneously.
• Expertise in containers and orchestration, specifically with Docker and Kubernetes; experience with Amazon EKS is preferred.
• Familiarity with AWS services, including Lambda and RDS.
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code, preferably using CDK or SAM.
• Knowledge of CDN, WAF, rate limiting, TLS, DNS, and caching strategies.
• Proficient in TypeScript/JavaScript and C#.
• Strong SQL and defensible database design capabilities.
• Expertise in observability tools, including Honeycomb and PostHog.
• Experience with diverse technology stacks including LAMP, PHP, WordPress, XML/SOAP integrations, CRM, and identity systems.
• Familiarity with using Claude Code as an agentic coding partner.
• Experience in coaching engineers and managing service partners across various time zones.
• Nice to have: Experience with Helm, Argo CD, and the HubSpot development platform.
