
Lead Electrical CAD Designer – Data Center Infrastructure

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Develop 2D and 3D models of electrical systems, especially for intricate projects or when visualization is essential.
• Engage in design reviews to verify accuracy and adherence to specifications.
• Demonstrate advanced expertise in various CAD tools, including AutoCAD Electrical, Revit, Windchill, Autodesk Inventor-EMX, and Autodesk Fusion, to design, draft, and model complex electrical systems for power and automation controls.
• Possess a strong grasp of electrical symbols, power systems, and automation control principles to accurately generate designs that align with technical specifications and standards.
• Collaborate closely with engineers and fellow designers to fulfill product specifications and performance criteria.
• Alter and refine designs to rectify operational deficiencies or mitigate production issues.
• Create and update engineering drawings, schematics, BOMs, and layouts as necessary.
• Review and validate designs to ensure compliance with required quality and safety benchmarks.
• Exhibit exceptional attention to detail to guarantee the precision of measurements, dimensions, and design specifications.
• Utilize strong analytical skills to interpret complex technical drawings, including single line diagrams, wiring diagrams, schematics, power plans, automation controls, ladder diagrams, and electrical device specifications.
• Design and develop schematic PLC input/output connections.
• Have knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials to produce feasible and cost-effective designs.
• Assess and optimize manufacturing assembly processes by designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing techniques and equipment, collaborating with equipment vendors, and gathering feedback from production teams.
• Skilled in creating detailed electrical designs of components, sub-assemblies, and system integration.
• Capable of generating a Bill of Materials (BOM) for manufacturing release.
• Maintain relationships with power systems, electronics, control component suppliers, and contract manufacturers.
• Stay informed about the latest technologies and methods to ensure competitive and cost-efficient designs.
• Consult with management and production personnel to evaluate engineering feasibility and cost-effectiveness.
• May perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
• A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field is mandatory.
• 6-8 years of experience in electrical design, particularly in the power distribution or data center sectors.
• Demonstrated experience as a CAD designer, ideally within an electrical engineering context.
• Proficient in CAD software (AutoCAD Electrical, Revit).
• Strong understanding of electrical systems, integration strategies, and system coordination.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and meticulous attention to detail.
• Effective communication skills for liaising with engineers, manufacturers, and clients, clearly and efficiently explaining designs and modifications.
