This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Bulgaria.
• Supervise teams of data engineers and analytics specialists, offering technical guidance and mentorship throughout the project lifecycle.
• Design and implement cloud-native data platforms on AWS, creating schemas and ingestion pipelines capable of managing structured data from various sources such as Excel feeds, legacy databases, and external systems.
• Develop, maintain, and oversee ETL/ELT pipelines using AWS Glue and Step Functions, ensuring dependable data transformation, validation, and quality assurance at every phase.
• Lead the infrastructure-as-code initiative utilizing Terraform — provisioning, versioning, and overseeing all cloud resources with complete reproducibility and environment consistency.
• Provide comprehensive reporting solutions via Power BI, converting intricate data models into user-friendly dashboards that deliver actionable, near-real-time insights to stakeholders.
• Clearly and persuasively articulate complex technical concepts and architectural decisions to non-technical stakeholders, enabling informed decision-making at all levels.
• Develop and uphold best practices regarding data quality, pipeline monitoring, documentation, and incident management.
• Engage in pre-sales and discovery activities, leveraging technical expertise to assist in scoping, estimation, and business development efforts.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
• Over 7 years of experience in data engineering, cloud infrastructure, or platform development, showcasing a proven track record of delivering production-quality data solutions.
• Extensive hands-on experience with AWS data services — particularly Glue, Step Functions, S3, RDS/Redshift, IAM, and CloudWatch.
• Proficient in SQL and Python for data transformation, pipeline orchestration, and scripting tasks.
• Significant experience with Terraform or similar Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools for managing cloud infrastructure.
• Established ability to design and enhance ETL/ELT pipelines for data ingestion from diverse sources.
• Experience in creating dashboards and data models in Power BI (or equivalent BI tools such as Tableau or Looker).
• Strong understanding of data modeling, schema design, and data warehousing principles.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills — comfortable leading technical discussions with engineering teams and presenting insights to C-level executives alike.
• Strong leadership skills with experience in mentoring engineers and promoting best practices across teams.
