This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado, +1 more state.
• Deliver engaging, live online classes during school hours that challenge students, ignite curiosity, and encourage deep thinking.
• Manage virtual classrooms consisting of 20 to 40 students by cultivating strong relationships, employing Socratic questioning, and promoting active participation and discussion.
• Teach students the art of thinking critically rather than simply memorizing information, emphasizing reasoning, inquiry, and perspective-taking over rote learning.
• Demonstrate effective learning habits by fostering reflection and growth, while showcasing curiosity, professionalism, and mastery of your subject matter.
• Utilize observations and student data to adapt instruction in real time, ensuring every student is adequately supported and challenged.
• Set clear expectations for behavior and participation, maintaining active supervision of students during live classes.
• Arrange for a substitute as per WL’s substitute policy when needed.
• Design lesson plans that align with syllabus objectives, key questions, and upcoming assignments.
• Prepare instructional materials and learning activities that align with course goals and provide a clear progression for students.
• Ensure accurate setup of Canvas courses each semester, including assignments, pacing, and curriculum materials.
• Offer ideas and feedback to facilitate continuous improvements in curriculum and instructional resources.
• Assess student work in Canvas and deliver timely, detailed feedback that fosters student growth and learning.
• Track student progress, attendance, and engagement, identifying those who may require additional academic or organizational support.
• Provide targeted interventions, conduct weekly office hours, communicate proactively with students and parents, and participate in IEP and 504 meetings as necessary.
• Communicate clearly, respectfully, and professionally with students, parents, and colleagues.
• Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) with a proven expertise and enthusiasm for the subject area.
• Active teaching license in the relevant subject area.
• Quick adopter of technology, proficient in email, file management, and electronic reporting and recording.
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
• Self-motivated, organized, adaptable, and solution-focused.
• Alignment with the educational philosophy and mission of Williamsburg Learning.
• Capability to pass a criminal background check.
• Previous experience working with middle and high school students (preferred).
• Experience in teaching your subject area (preferred).
• High comfort level with technology, including AI, video conferencing, and presentation tools (preferred).
• Familiarity with Zoom and Google Workspace (preferred).
