Kubernetes Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Set up, deploy, and manage Kubernetes clusters customized for each IL environment (IL2, IL4, IL5), ensuring compatibility with ESRI ArcGIS services and integration with infrastructure provided by the agency from WO-001.

• Create and oversee Helm charts and Kubernetes Operators for the declarative deployment and automated scaling of ESRI services, such as Notebook Server and GeoAnalytics Server.

• Configure persistent volume claims and provision container-native storage solutions (e.g., AWS EBS, Azure Disks) to accommodate ESRI workloads, ensuring durability and adherence to backup and recovery policies.

• Incorporate Kubernetes-native monitoring and logging solutions (e.g., Prometheus, Fluentd, or OpenTelemetry) to facilitate observability and IL-compliant reporting across various environments.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cloud Computing, or a related field, or five (5) years of equivalent experience in Kubernetes administration.

• Proven experience in deploying and managing Kubernetes clusters, troubleshooting containerized applications, and implementing service mesh architectures like Istio or Linkerd.

• Required experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or Ansible.

• Knowledge and skills to design, deploy, and manage containerized applications in a cloud-native environment utilizing Kubernetes.

• Expertise in Kubernetes cluster orchestration, container networking, Helm chart deployment, and the automation of CI/CD pipelines.

• In-depth understanding of cloud infrastructure services (AWS, Azure, GCP), security best practices, and Kubernetes monitoring/logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack) is essential.
