Knowledge Architect

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.

📋 Description

• Oversee the creation and upkeep of the enterprise data domain model, taxonomy, and ontologies.

• Design and advance information and semantic models that prepare enterprise data for AI applications.

• Implement data models, taxonomies, and semantic frameworks through the Enterprise Data Catalog (Alation).

• Establish and uphold standards for data modeling, taxonomy, nomenclature, and semantic frameworks.

• Offer expert guidance on resolving semantic conflicts.

• Contribute to the enterprise data product framework by delineating domain boundaries, shared dimensions, and semantic agreements.

• Verify and document prioritized metadata elements associated with key business processes, analytical use cases, and AI-driven workflows.

• Identify opportunities for simplification—minimize redundancy, consolidate overlapping datasets, and advocate for canonical sources.

• Collaborate with analytics, data science, and AI engineering teams to ensure the information architecture supports AI outcomes.

• Act as a strategic partner to influence governance strategy and roadmaps.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience with data, metadata, and reference data frameworks.

• Proven experience in leading the development of enterprise business glossaries, domain models, and ontologies.

• Demonstrated expertise in data management principles, including data governance, data quality, master data management, data lineage, and metadata management.

• Established ability to create and implement metadata governance functions, including policies, standards, roles, and controls.

• Practical experience in deploying and scaling an Enterprise Data Catalog or metadata repository (Alation or similar).

• Knowledge of how semantic models, metadata, and knowledge representation facilitate applied AI and LLM use cases.

• Strong business insight connecting data to business process drivers and performance management.

• Experience in collaborative, team-oriented delivery that achieves results across enterprise data, analytics, and technology sectors.

• Strategic thinker capable of translating enterprise objectives into actionable plans and measurable results.

• Comprehensive understanding of data and metadata management principles, business analysis, and process engineering.
