Junior Systems Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Provide support and maintenance for Linux-based infrastructure environments.

• Acquire practical experience with Kubernetes, automation, networking, virtualization, and production operations.

• Contribute to enhancing the reliability, performance, and scalability of systems.

• Assist with virtualization platforms, server upkeep, patch management, monitoring, and hybrid infrastructure operations.

• Gain practical experience in production Kubernetes environments.

• Contribute to automation efforts by creating and maintaining scripts.

• Aid in troubleshooting networking and infrastructure challenges.

• Engage in operational support activities, incident response rotations, change management procedures, and disaster recovery testing.

• Collaborate closely with Infrastructure, DevOps, Networking, and Engineering teams to support daily operations and address technical issues.

⛳️ Requirements

• 1–3 years of experience in Systems Administration, Infrastructure Support, Production Operations, or a related field.

• Strong foundational knowledge of Linux systems.

• Familiarity with virtualization technologies.

• Basic understanding of networking principles including DNS, DHCP, and TCP/IP.

• Keen interest in expanding knowledge in infrastructure engineering, automation, Kubernetes, and DevOps methodologies.

• Experience working with container technologies such as Docker.

• Familiarity with scripting or automation using Python or similar programming languages.

• Ability to work effectively with distributed teams across North America.

• Organized, reliable, and comfortable in supporting production environments.

• Access to a reliable high-speed internet connection, a dedicated home office or workspace, and the capacity to work overnight hours in alignment with Eastern Standard Time business operations.
