Junior Back-End Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Portugal, +2 more countries.

📋 Description

• Develop backend components such as APIs, serverless functions, queue systems, and data storage solutions, with mentorship from senior engineers.

• Engage in design discussions and gain insights into the decision-making process for architecture.

• Implement best practices for security and data protection.

• Produce clean, well-tested code along with clear documentation.

• Participate in code review sessions.

• Engage in discussions with technical leaders and clients to comprehend requirements and project timelines, while providing work updates.

• Advance along Loka's career trajectory with guidance and increased autonomy.

• Report to a Backend Lead who will provide mentoring and support for development.

• Investigate new tools and techniques, contributing innovative ideas to the team.

• Collaborate with teams in Machine Learning, Data Engineering, and others.

• Take full accountability for tasks until completion.

⛳️ Requirements

• 1 to 2 years of experience in backend development.

• Proficiency in Python or Node.js (TypeScript).

• A robust foundation in computer science principles.

• Familiarity with API/Web communication protocols (OpenAPI, gRPC, etc.).

• Understanding of concurrency concepts in APIs/Web.

• Ability to work in a container-first environment.

• Excellent proficiency in English: As a global team, we conduct all meetings, customer calls, and business communications in English.

• Resume must be written in English.
