Junior Analytics Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Design, maintain, and enhance data models to guarantee data integrity and reliability of pipelines.

• Supervise data pipelines, pinpointing and rectifying inconsistencies in current processes.

• Acquire knowledge of the business and convert stakeholder requirements into effective, streamlined SQL queries with guidance from senior team members.

• Create, document, and manage internal dashboards; address issues to ensure precise reporting.

• Support ad-hoc data requests and conduct data quality assessments.

• Implement software engineering best practices, such as version control and automated testing.

• Collaborate with Operational teams including Revenue, Finance, Customer Success, and Marketing through the Business Analytics team.

• Assist in ensuring that data is reliable and prepared to support Top Hat’s expansion.

⛳️ Requirements

• 1–2+ years of experience in analytics, data engineering, or related quantitative fields.

• A degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

• Strong foundation in SQL, including common table expressions (CTEs), window functions, and query optimization.

• Proficiency in Python.

• Familiarity with data modeling and Business Intelligence tools such as Looker and Tableau.

• Willingness to learn and utilize dbt, Airflow, Git, automated testing, and software engineering best practices.

• Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to solving technical challenges in collaborative, hands-on environments.

• Bonus: experience in tech products, especially in startup environments.

• Bonus: recent experience in higher education, either as a teacher or a student.
