Junior Accountant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Support the Experienced Accountant and Controller in the preparation of month-end financial statements

• Utilize and uphold knowledge of inventory accounting (ASC 330), cost of goods sold, and fixed assets

• Offer daily assistance with billing processes

• Prepare and execute vendor payments

• Reconcile vendor statements and address invoice discrepancies

• Maintain precise vendor master data, including banking and tax information

• Address vendor inquiries and foster positive supplier relationships

• Assist in the detailed analysis of accounts, recognizing trends, discrepancies, and areas for enhancement

• Aid in external audits by supplying necessary documentation, explanations, supporting schedules, and reconciliations

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to guarantee accurate recording and allocation of expenses

• Utilize AI tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT) to enhance efficiency and precision in accounting workflows

• Remain updated with accounting standards, regulations, and best practices

⛳️ Requirements

• 1-2 years of experience in accounting

• Familiarity with accounts payable, vendor management, inventory, and fixed assets

• Solid understanding of accounting principles and regulations (U.S. GAAP preferred)

• Proficiency in Excel is essential

• Knowledge of AI tools like Claude/Anthropic and ChatGPT for improving workflow efficiency

• Experience with payment tools (Bill.com, Coupa)

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, capable of interpreting financial data and identifying trends

• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines

• Excellent communication skills, enabling effective collaboration across teams

• Strong organizational skills and comfort in working independently in a remote, fast-paced environment

• Experience in supporting a multi-location and/or multi-entity business
