Java Tech Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Lead and mentor Java developers through the processes of design, implementation, code reviews, testing, and resolving defects.

• Design, develop, and sustain backend services and microservices utilizing Java and Spring Boot.

• Create and manage RESTful APIs while integrating backend services with frontend applications and external systems.

• Convert functional and technical requirements into solution designs, development tasks, and delivery time estimates.

• Implement object-oriented design principles, SOLID principles, and relevant design patterns.

• Conduct code reviews to ensure quality, readability, maintainability, performance, and security, while promoting consistent engineering standards.

• Diagnose complex application issues and execute root-cause analysis across application and integration layers.

• Enhance application performance, scalability, reliability, and observability through effective engineering practices.

• Create and maintain unit and integration tests while supporting automated quality checks.

• Collaborate with QA, frontend, DevOps, and architecture teams regarding releases, environments, and technical dependencies.

• Engage in sprint planning, estimation, technical discussions, and delivery reviews.

• Mentor team members, fostering knowledge sharing and a culture of continuous improvement.

⛳️ Requirements

• Typically requires 10–12+ years of software development experience, including 3–4+ years in a technical lead or senior engineering capacity.

• Strong practical experience with Java 17 or newer and the Java ecosystem.

• Hands-on experience with Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data JPA, Spring Security, and Hibernate/JPA.

• Comprehensive understanding of microservices architecture, REST APIs, service integration, and distributed application design.

• Solid grasp of object-oriented programming, SOLID principles, common design patterns, and best practices in clean code.

• Proficient with relational databases like PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, or Microsoft SQL Server; capable of writing and optimizing SQL queries.

• Familiarity with build and source-control tools including Maven or Gradle and Git.

• Experience in writing automated tests using frameworks like JUnit and Mockito.

• Knowledge of code quality and static analysis tools, such as SonarQube or Checkstyle.

• Understanding of application security, logging, debugging, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.

• Strong communication, technical decision-making, mentoring, and team collaboration abilities.

• Preferred: Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.

• Preferred: Exposure to cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure or AWS.

• Preferred: Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment methodologies.

• Preferred: Experience with messaging technologies like Kafka or RabbitMQ.

• Preferred: Experience in Agile/Scrum delivery teams.
