Java Backend Developer – Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Provide technical leadership to a diverse team and advocate for best practices in software engineering.

• Perform code reviews to ensure quality, performance, and compliance with architectural standards.

• Collaborate with architects and stakeholders to make strategic technical decisions.

• Mentor and develop team members technically, ranging from junior to senior levels.

• Evaluate and guide the effective integration of AI throughout the development lifecycle.

• Maintain a continuous flow in the development pipeline (CI/CD) by identifying and eliminating bottlenecks.

• Manage technical priorities that align with the requirements of various business areas.

• Monitor delivery metrics such as lead time, throughput, and quality.

• Balance technical debt with the introduction of new features.

• Act as a liaison between different business areas that utilize or rely on the product.

• Convert complex and conflicting business requirements into feasible technical solutions.

• Negotiate priorities and expectations with multiple stakeholders.

• Facilitate Agile ceremonies and ensure coordination among dependent teams.

• Define and refine the product's technical architecture, taking into account scalability, resilience, data, and AI.

• Uphold Java development best practices, including Clean Code, SOLID principles, and Design Patterns.

• Ensure the integrity of code quality, test coverage, and technical documentation.

• Propel the ongoing evolution of engineering practices, encompassing DevOps, observability, and security.

• Identify opportunities to integrate AI/ML into the product architecture.

⛳️ Requirements

• In-depth knowledge of Java (Java 17+, Spring Boot/Spring Framework).

• Experience with systems architecture and microservices.

• Proven experience in designing scalable, resilient, and distributed solutions.

• Familiarity with circuit breaker, Saga, event-driven, and CQRS patterns.

• Knowledge of relational and non-relational databases (SQL/NoSQL).

• Experience with messaging systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar).

• Proficient with containers and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).

• Understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).

• Familiar with CI/CD practices and tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions).

• Experience with automated unit, integration, and end-to-end (E2E) testing.

• Knowledge of Artificial Intelligence as applied to software engineering.

• Experience with generative AI tools, code assistants, and code generation and review.

• Understanding of LLM fundamentals.

• Experience in integrating AI APIs, RAG, and agents.

• Comprehension of production AI/ML systems architectures.

• Preferred: experience with MLOps, AI data pipelines, or AI governance/security in corporate settings.

• Previous experience as a Tech Lead or in a technical team leadership role.

• Outstanding communication skills for collaborating with multiple departments simultaneously.

• Ability to manage conflicting priorities and negotiate trade-offs.

• Systems-level perspective on the impact of technical decisions across various business contexts.

• Proactive mindset with a strong sense of ownership.

• Ability to influence others without direct authority.

• Technical curiosity and eagerness to experiment with and assess new technologies.

• Preferred: experience in environments with multiple stakeholders and varying priorities.

• Experience managing hybrid teams (backend, frontend, and QA).

• Comfortable transitioning between in-depth technical discussions and strategic conversations with business stakeholders.
