
Japanese Quality Control Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Japan.
• Lead and mentor a team of around 10 Quality Control Reviewers, ensuring adherence to quality standards within the Japanese locale.
• Evaluate reviewer feedback, audit quality, and ensure compliance with project specifications.
• Serve as the main quality liaison for the Japanese locale, addressing quality inquiries and escalating complex matters as needed.
• Facilitate calibration sessions and provide structured coaching to enhance reviewer performance.
• Track quality trends, identify potential risks, and proactively address performance deficiencies.
• Assist in the onboarding and professional development of new Quality Control Reviewers.
• Collaborate with global Quality Teams to enhance processes, documentation, and consistency in quality across AI training tasks.
• Native-level proficiency (CEFR C2 or equivalent) in Japanese.
• Proficient in both written and spoken English.
• A minimum of 2 years' experience in AI training, data annotation, linguistic quality, localization QA, or a related quality assurance position.
• At least 1 year of experience in leading or supervising reviewers, annotators, or quality teams.
• Strong grasp of linguistic quality, including grammar, fluency, tone, register, and cultural subtleties.
• Experience in providing structured, evidence-based feedback and coaching to enhance quality.
• Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to assess complex tasks that may not have a singular correct answer.
• Strong organizational abilities and capacity to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic remote environment.
• Nice to have:
• Degree in Linguistics, Computer Science, Engineering, or another analytical discipline.
• Experience with Large Language Models (LLMs), RLHF, AI data annotation, prompt evaluation, or NLP projects.
