Japanese Language Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Japan.

📋 Description

• Assist in the localization process by delivering linguistic and cultural insights for Japanese-language materials.

• Perform linguistic assessments of translated materials to guarantee consistency in terminology, linguistic precision, cultural appropriateness, and a smooth flow across localized offerings.

• Collaborate with Machine Translation Post-Editing (MTPE) to evaluate and enhance machine translation outputs.

• Create and uphold linguistic guidelines to maintain the highest quality standards.

• Offer linguistic quality input to the translation vendor and coordinate necessary linguistic alterations.

• Review and address vendor translations in conjunction with feedback from in-country stakeholders.

• Execute continuous enhancements to the localized product.

• Engage with PMs, engineering teams, and QE engineering as necessary.

• Develop and sustain linguistic resources, including glossaries and style guides.

• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to integrate linguistic factors into the product design and development workflow.

• Provide cultural insights and suggestions to ensure that localized content resonates effectively with the Japanese-speaking audience.

⛳️ Requirements

• 3-5 years of relevant experience.

• Advanced degree or certification in Translation, Interpretation, or a related discipline.

• Demonstrated experience as a linguist or translation specialist, with a concentration on Japanese – Native Japanese speaker is essential.

• Familiarity or previous experience in the domains of payments, banking, finance, POS systems, and merchant applications is advantageous.

• Strong comprehension of software localization.

• Exceptional communication and collaboration abilities.

• Proficient understanding of translation platforms and language technology tools.

• Familiarity with Mac, Google Suite, JIRA, Adobe Acrobat, and other localization tools (e.g., TMS – Smartling, Atom text editor, screenshot annotation).
