IT Systems & Security Specialist I

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Connecticut, +4 more states.

📋 Description

• Provide support for the organization's cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity efforts, and daily IT operations.

• Aid in the administration and maintenance of Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 cloud environments.

• Monitor cloud resources to ensure optimal performance, availability, and security.

• Oversee cloud-based backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity processes.

• Lead projects related to cloud migrations and implementations.

• Track security alerts and investigate potential threats.

• Support endpoint protection, antivirus, and vulnerability management initiatives.

• Conduct security audits and review user access rights.

• Implement and uphold security policies, standards, and procedures.

• Respond to and investigate security incidents, including containment, remediation, escalation, and documentation.

• Develop and manage phishing awareness campaigns and cybersecurity training programs.

• Handle user provisioning and deprovisioning processes.

• Maintain Active Directory, Azure Active Directory (Entra ID), group policies, SSO, MFA, Conditional Access policies, and least-privilege access controls.

• Assist with the administration of servers, workstations, and networks.

• Troubleshoot issues related to cloud, security, and connectivity.

• Support patch management and system updates.

• Document configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting processes.

• Keep accurate system documentation.

• Assist in compliance audits and security assessments.

• Support cybersecurity frameworks and best practices.

• Generate reports on cloud usage, security incidents, and system health.

• Report directly to the Director of IT.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related field; or equivalent work experience.

• 3–5 years of progressively responsible experience in systems, cloud, endpoint management, or cybersecurity administration.

• Strong working knowledge of cloud computing technologies, with hands-on experience managing Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 environments.

• Familiarity with Windows Server, Active Directory, and networking fundamentals.

• Understanding of cybersecurity principles, including endpoint protection, firewalls, MFA, and access control.

• Excellent troubleshooting and analytical abilities.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and priorities.

• Must pass satisfactory background checks.

• Must reside in VT, CT, MD, NH, or MA.

• Periodic travel to group homes and various state offices is necessary.

• Preferred experience includes Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365 Administration, Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), Microsoft Defender, Intune / Endpoint Manager, VMware or Hyper-V, PowerShell scripting, Windows Server Administration, Endpoint Detection & Response (EDR), and Identity & Access Management (IAM).

• Preferred industry certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900), Microsoft Certified: Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals (SC-900), CompTIA Security+, and CompTIA Network+.
