This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Conduct post-editing or proofreading for machine translations related to IT legal contracts and service agreements.

• Ensure the accuracy of terminology, maintain legal consistency, logical fluency, and adhere to Brazilian Portuguese writing standards.

• Adhere to style guides, term bases, and project specifications.

• Deliver tasks punctually and communicate proactively regarding any ambiguities or delays.

• Participate in a mandatory qualification test specific to the project prior to formal engagement.

• Work with the language pair of Simplified Chinese (ZHCN) to Brazilian Portuguese (PTBR).

• Include legal translation experience, years of experience, and estimated word counts in your CV/application.

⛳️ Requirements

• Preference for native-level Brazilian Portuguese speakers; non-native linguists with strong PTBR proficiency will also be considered.

• Practical experience in translating or editing legal and IT-contract content is a significant advantage.

• Familiarity with CAT tools such as MemoQ, Memsource/Phrase, Smartcat, etc.

• Consistent availability and capacity to meet daily output targets: 600 words per day for MTPE and 1,200 words per day for proofreading.

• Willingness to undertake a mandatory unpaid qualification assessment for the IT-legal domain.

• Must fulfill one of the following criteria: a degree in Translation, Linguistics, or Language Studies (or equivalent with substantial translation training); 2+ years of translation experience along with a college degree; 5+ years of translation experience with no degree required; or a translation certification from an appropriate government authority.

• Applicants are required to sign a confidentiality agreement and complete a translation test.

• Experience in translating from Simplified Chinese to Brazilian Portuguese within the legal sector is requested in the application questions.
