IT Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Oversee the IT team and assume full responsibility for the entire IT infrastructure.

• Introduce structure, documentation, and operational efficiency within the IT department.

• Mitigate key-person risk by establishing professional process discipline.

• Administer critical business systems, focusing particularly on the hosted WMS environment and VMware platform.

• Collaborate with internal teams to support essential hosted customer environments.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 8 years of progressive IT experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership or managerial role.

• Demonstrated hands-on proficiency with the Microsoft technology stack: Active Directory (both on-premises and Azure AD), Office 365, Windows Server, and SQL Server.

• Solid working knowledge of VMware vSphere; familiarity with Proxmox or other virtualization alternatives is advantageous.

• Practical experience with Google Cloud Platform, including VMs, networking, IAM, VPN tunnels, monitoring, and cost management.

• Understanding of SQL Server administration, encompassing high-availability concepts (Always On, failover clusters), maintenance plans, and backup strategies.

• Experience managing networking infrastructure, including firewalls (FortiGate or equivalent), VPN, and relationships with managed service providers.

• Proven experience in implementing and managing change management, incident management, and IT documentation practices.

• Background in managing IT vendor contracts, renewals, and budgets.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; capable of translating technical risks into clear business language for executives.

• Able to balance strategic leadership with hands-on technical responsibilities — this role encompasses both aspects.
