This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Lead a team of direct reports within the IT Engineering sector.
• Partner with executive leadership on datacenter lifecycles and contract renewals.
• Supervise and prioritize the execution of technical projects.
• Set objectives and priorities for staff that align with departmental goals.
• Ensure that deliverables meet established targets.
• May take charge of team formations and related assignments.
• Create processes for management reporting, statistics, and performance metrics.
• Foster an environment that encourages staff to develop self-sufficiency and competence.
• Guide and assess staff in ongoing performance enhancement and professional growth.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• At least 7+ years of progressive experience in infrastructure engineering or cloud operations.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise technical personnel or navigate complex cross-datacenter infrastructure roadmaps.
• Must show recent, proven experience effectively balancing daily management responsibilities with direct, hands-on technical tasks.
• Previous formal experience as a fully engaged engineering manager, team leader, or senior technical authority.
• Extensive hands-on experience in engineering, maintaining, and actively configuring Ubuntu environments, Puppet automation platforms, and bare-metal orchestration tools (MAAS).
• Practical experience in executing datacenter footprint migrations, managing hardware procurement, and directly engineering/managing virtualization boundaries (including OpenStack, LXD, KVM, and ESXi lifecycles).
• Strong hands-on knowledge in Active Directory management, enterprise certificate enrollment processes, identity tooling, and maintaining critical trust layers across corporate domain controllers.
• In-depth, hands-on familiarity with the intricacies of CEPH architecture and administration for long-term persistent storage.
• Technical proficiency in evaluating, planning, and actively managing physical/SAN storage solutions, such as PureStorage or enterprise S3-compatible targets.
• Hands-on experience or familiarity with MicroCloud deployment/management frameworks.
• Ability to organize and prioritize existing resources while integrating new information as necessary to implement the most effective solutions.
• Excellent communication skills with the capacity to articulate messages clearly using easily understandable language.
