IT Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Deliver IT support throughout the organization, escalating intricate issues to the Head of IT as necessary.

• Assist in managing and maintaining an endpoint fleet of around 150 devices using Microsoft Intune, which includes compliance policies, configuration profiles, application packaging, and deployment.

• Oversee the Microsoft 365 environment, which encompasses Entra ID, Exchange Online, SharePoint, and Teams.

• Support the device lifecycle from provisioning to retirement, collaborating with the logistics partner.

• Aid in enhancing and sustaining the IT service desk, including workflows and reporting mechanisms.

• Assist with hardware procurement and coordinate the deployment, retrieval, repair, and recycling processes with the logistics vendor.

• Facilitate day-to-day management of Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, including alert investigations and policy monitoring.

• Promote security awareness initiatives.

• Contribute to advancements in security and compliance.

• Create automations using Power Automate, PowerShell, Python, and APIs to minimize manual IT tasks.

• Support joiner/mover/leaver workflows, license management, device provisioning, and reporting.

• Participate in IT projects related to security, infrastructure, and tooling.

• Collaborate with the Head of IT and another IT Engineer within a small, supportive IT team.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must be based in the UK and possess the right to work in the UK - essential.

• Early to mid-career IT professional.

• Practical experience with Microsoft 365 administration (Entra ID, Exchange Online, Intune, Defender).

• Basic understanding of identity and access management and concepts of conditional access.

• Proficient in troubleshooting across Windows, macOS, and cloud services.

• Strong interest in scripting/automation (PowerShell, Python, Bash, APIs) – prior experience is highly valued but not mandatory.

• Able to work independently in a fully remote setting while recognizing when to seek assistance.

• Interest in AI tools and their application within IT operations.

• Experience with Power Automate or similar workflow automation platforms is advantageous.

• Familiarity with ITSM platforms (ServiceNow, Freshservice, Halo, or similar) is a plus.

• Prior experience in a startup or scale-up environment is desirable.

• Ability to present a project or automation you have developed is a plus.
