IT Business Analyst – Operational Risk

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Drive strategic Operational Risk initiatives within the insurance sector by converting business requirements into cutting-edge technology solutions.

• Collaborate on enterprise risk projects, facilitate Agile delivery, analyze data, document business requirements, and contribute to solutions that enhance risk management and business performance.

• Evaluate and document business processes associated with operational risk, including risk identification, assessment, and mitigation.

• Collect, elicit, analyze, and document business and functional requirements through collaboration with business stakeholders and technical teams.

• Create and sustain Business Requirements Documents (BRDs), functional specifications, process flows, and data mapping documentation.

• Utilize relational data concepts to assist with source-to-target mapping and enterprise data lake initiatives.

• Conduct SQL-based data analysis, exploratory analysis, and gap analysis to support solution design and reporting efforts.

• Collaborate with Agile Scrum teams to ensure solutions are in line with business objectives and delivery schedules.

• Assist with risk-related system enhancements, including projects involving the Archer risk management platform.

• Serve as a conduit between business and technology teams, ensuring effective communication and alignment throughout project execution.

• Adapt to emerging technologies while contributing to ongoing process improvements.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business, Data Analytics, or a similar field.

• 2 years of experience as an IT Business Analyst or in a comparable role.

• Proven experience in gathering and documenting business requirements.

• Experience in creating BRDs, functional specifications, process flows, and data mapping documentation.

• Strong skills in SQL and data analysis.

• Experience with Microsoft Azure.

• Familiarity with Jira in Agile/Scrum environments.

• Understanding of Agile delivery methodologies.

• Knowledge of enterprise data lake concepts and cloud-based data platforms.

• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal, and communication abilities.

• Experience with RSA Archer or similar Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) platforms is a plus.

• Familiarity with operational risk terminology, risk hierarchies, and risk management frameworks is an advantage.

• Experience with Power BI or Tableau is beneficial.

• Knowledge of Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS), Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Databricks, and Azure Cosmos DB is advantageous.

• Familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as Basel or OSFI guidelines is a plus.

• Agile, Business Analysis, or Risk Management certifications are viewed favorably.

• Strong English communication skills, with confidence in engaging with stakeholders at all organizational levels.
