This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Tennessee.
• Works remotely to code IRF records utilizing the current ICD coding version within the timeframe established by the supervisor.
• Adheres to the coding schedule assigned by the Area Director.
• Collaborates closely with the PPS Coordinator/Outcomes Manager to assign the Impairment Code for all admissions and other newly diagnosed conditions.
• Acts as a backup for the hospital to ensure timely transmission of IRF PAIs for all Medicare inpatients.
• Safeguards the confidentiality of all patient care information to uphold patient rights.
• Engages in continuing education classes and training programs.
• Completes annual health, safety, and education requirements while maintaining professional growth and development.
• Demonstrates an understanding of the principles of growth and development across the lifespan and possesses the skills necessary to deliver age-appropriate care to the patient population served.
• Arrives at work punctually as scheduled and follows policies regarding absence notifications.
• Participates in all mandatory in-services and staff calls.
• Represents the organization positively and professionally.
• Adheres to all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
• Operates within the mission, vision, ethics, and goals of the organization.
• Maintains current licensure/certification for the position, if applicable.
• Consistently demonstrates Guest Relations skills to physicians, hospital staff, and others they interact with.
• Rigorously follows organizational and hospital Health, Safety, Security, and Hazardous Materials policies and procedures.
• HIPAA: Performs job responsibilities in compliance with HIPAA privacy laws, adhering to organizational policies regarding patient confidentiality, and identifying and reporting any confidentiality issues to a supervisor.
• Compliance: Executes job responsibilities in line with the standards established in LifePoint’s Code of Conduct, LifePoint policies and procedures, as well as applicable federal and state laws.
• Possesses effective communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
• Demonstrates advanced computer proficiency.
• Has knowledge of basic office equipment.
• Exhibits appropriate telephone communication skills.
• Certifications: RHIT, RHIA, or coding certification (CCA, CCS) from AHIMA (American Health Information Management Association) or coding certification (CPC, CIC) from AAPC (American Academy of Professional Coders) is required.
• Experience: A minimum of two years of current experience in inpatient rehabilitation hospital coding (UB04 and IRF PAI) is necessary.
