This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Tennessee.

📋 Description

• Aids in overseeing the activities of the Coding staff while also engaging in coding, abstracting, and reporting in accordance with relevant laws and regulatory standards.

• Responsible for continuous education and ensuring adherence to government and internal coding regulations and standards. Serves as a resource for coding personnel, Revenue Integrity, and various hospital departments.

• Facilitates onboarding, training, and supervision of coding department staff to guarantee quality coding and uphold an acceptable turnaround time for coding assignments.

• Cultivates and inspires a skilled, well-trained team capable of achieving set objectives, while promoting efforts to attract and retain qualified personnel.

• Aids in the completion of probationary and annual performance evaluations for employees. Addresses inquiries from hospital departments, physicians, patients, families, etc., to ensure excellence in customer service.

• Collaborates with the facility HIM Director and Coding Manager to oversee processes and initiatives aimed at continuously enhancing DNFC and Coding Revenue Cycle performance and efficiency, including but not limited to staffing, reports, daily assignments, and coding support.

• Exemplifies leadership; fosters teamwork by cultivating a positive, transparent, and focused work environment that drives optimal results.

• Performs additional duties as assigned by Coding leadership, including but not limited to leading and executing special projects.

• Creates project work plans, facilitates resource allocation, executes project tasks, and seeks assistance from intra- and inter-departmental resources as needed.

• Oversees the work of others, including planning, assigning, and scheduling tasks, reviewing work to ensure quality standards, training staff, and monitoring productivity. May provide recommendations for hiring, termination, and salary adjustments, but does not hold final authority on these decisions.


⛳️ Requirements

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent; a bachelor’s degree in health care administration, health information management, or a related field is preferred.

• Experience: At least 3 years of inpatient coding experience, with a minimum of two years in a supervisory, coaching, and evaluating role within coding staff.

• Certifications: Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or certification from the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC).
