Inventory Planner – Analyst

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop, sustain, and enhance inventory dashboards, key performance indicators (KPIs), and regular reporting.

• Supervise inventory levels by age, shelf life, expiration risk, product movement, location, and category.

• Evaluate inventory data and convert findings into actionable insights, recommendations, and plans.

• Create materials and analyses for inventory assessments, business discussions, and governance meetings.

• Assess inventory turnover, days of supply, service risks, aging stock, surplus and obsolete inventory, scrap, and write-offs.

• Recognize and report risks associated with expiring, obsolete, slow-moving, or excess materials.

• Assist in root-cause analysis for write-offs, scrap, surplus, and inventory discrepancies.

• Suggest corrective measures including depletion strategies, demand management opportunities, production changes, inventory transfers, and disposition decisions.

• Collaborate with Supply Planning, Demand Planning, Operations, Commercial, Quality, and Finance teams.

• Analyze demand trends, variability, forecast accuracy, and inventory usage.

• Advise on safety stock updates, reorder thresholds, replenishment criteria, and inventory policies.

• Reconcile supply commitments, production schedules, and anticipated demand with current inventory levels.

• Maintain and verify inventory data, item-master settings, planning parameters, and associated ERP and planning system inputs.

• Support standardized inventory procedures, controls, and governance practices.

• Enhance reporting tools, workflows, data quality, and planning methodologies.

• Document recurring analyses, reporting procedures, and process steps.


⛳️ Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, Finance, Data Analytics, or a related discipline; or an equivalent mix of education and hands-on experience.

• Generally, a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in inventory planning, supply planning, demand planning, materials management, inventory analytics, or a similar supply chain position.

• Strong analytical capabilities with large data sets, trend detection, root-cause analysis, and practical recommendations.

• Experience in developing, maintaining, or enhancing dashboards, reports, KPIs, and data tools using Microsoft Excel and Power BI or similar platforms.

• Familiarity with ERP, MRP, or planning systems such as SAP, Oracle, or equivalent systems.

• Basic understanding of safety stock, reorder levels, min/max planning, ABC analysis, days of supply, shelf-life/expiration management, inventory turnover, cycle stock, and reduction of excess and obsolete inventory.

• Ability to analyze demand, supply, production, and inventory data to pinpoint shortages, surpluses, aging stock, and service risks.

• Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

• Effective written and verbal communication abilities.

• Capacity to collaborate across various functions, levels, and locations.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, including lookups, pivot tables, formulas, and data validation.

• Ability to comply with company policies, quality standards, and data integrity guidelines.

• Preferred: experience in manufacturing, life sciences, food safety, animal health, diagnostics, chemicals, or other regulated industries.

• Preferred: multi-site inventory planning, distribution, or production experience.

• Preferred: advanced Excel, Power BI development, visualization, automation, or analytics tools.

• Preferred: familiarity with SQL, database concepts, or data modeling.

• Preferred: experience with shelf-life-sensitive, lot-controlled, batch-controlled, or expiration-managed inventory.

• Preferred: experience in Sales and Operations Planning, Integrated Business Planning, or structured inventory review processes.

• Preferred: APICS/ASCM certification such as CPIM or CSCP.

• Preferred: experience in Lean, Six Sigma, process mapping, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
