International Hydrospatial Project Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Accountable for the timely delivery of projects, ensuring they meet scope and budget requirements.

• Oversee mainly international aerial bathymetry survey projects.

• Guide project execution teams in formulating the scope, technical approach, and execution strategy.

• Create comprehensive work plans, survey specifications, and flight plans that align with client goals, regulatory standards, and applicable guidelines such as IHO S-44 and USACE criteria.

• Choose sensors and acquisition methods based on site conditions, water depths, and project limitations.

• Act as the primary liaison for clients, subcontractors, and regulatory stakeholders.

• Facilitate kickoff meetings, progress reports, and technical review sessions.

• Supervise the mobilization, operations, and demobilization of survey programs.

• Coordinate field teams and subcontractors to ensure productivity and compliance with survey specifications.

• Track real-time acquisition progress and modify survey plans to enhance data coverage and quality.

• Implement quality assurance and quality control procedures for data acquisition and processing.

• Collaborate with internal discipline and team leaders as well as external subcontractors for project planning and execution.

• Identify and articulate client needs and expectations to internal leaders, phase managers, and technical staff.

• Maintain project information and tracking in an ERP system; provide monthly updates on status and resource planning.

• Oversee project invoicing and forecasting.

• Sustain stakeholder communication and address project issues impacting quality, client goals, objectives, or satisfaction.

• Strengthen existing client relationships and discover new project opportunities.

• Forge new client relationships that align with practice-area and sector strategies.

• Advocate for Woolpert as an industry leader and represent the firm at conferences and events.

• Assist in proposal writing and cost estimation.

• Deliver formal presentations and/or publish articles for professional, trade, or civic organizations.

• Carry out other assigned responsibilities.

⛳️ Requirements

• U.S. citizenship is required.

• BA/BS degree in a related field with a minimum of five (5) years of relevant Project Management experience, or ten (10) years of related experience.

• At least ten (10) years of professional geospatial experience with aerial bathymetry surveys.

• Top Secret or Secret Clearance or the ability to obtain one.

• Proven experience in managing aerial bathymetry sensor survey programs.

• Familiarity with pre-deployment site surveys.

• Knowledge of feasibility, climatology, and regulatory planning.

• Experience in managing and coordinating multiple subcontractors.

• Successful history of delivering projects for federal/state agencies, US Combatant Commands, and partner nation defense ministries.

• Proficiency in project management and geospatial software, including Microsoft Project, Global Mapper, ESRI ARCGIS Pro, and CARIS.

• Familiarity with TerraSolid TerraScan and/or LASTools is advantageous.

• Understanding of aerial bathymetric lidar data acquisition and processing, including aerial survey planning, sensor installation and calibration, ground control point collection, aerial surveying, Leica’s Lidar Survey Studio (LSS), trajectory processing, bathymetric data validation and uncertainty analysis, topo-bathymetric data production, lidar classification, product creation, analysis, file structuring, and metadata standards.

• Demonstrated ability to develop survey work plans, schedules, and mobilization strategies; manage aerial bathymetry survey operations; handle hydrographic survey enabling activities; control budgets, monitor progress, and execute corrective actions.

• Experience leading technical teams to create fee estimates for aerial bathymetry projects.

• Background in contributing to and reviewing proposals.

• Expertise in the Microsoft Office suite.

• Strong experience in managing large projects and budgets, including drafting technical proposals.

• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

• Proven track record of taking initiative to solve complex challenges.

• Ability to cultivate and manage cross-functional relationships.

• Prior experience managing multiple clients and projects concurrently.

• Willingness to travel up to 50%, both domestically and internationally, with a typical travel load of 25%.

• Must be capable of sitting for extended durations, operating standard office equipment, occasionally reaching/bending/climbing/balancing, and frequently lifting/moving 10 pounds and occasionally up to 40 pounds.
