Intern, Power Electronics Engineering – Power Systems

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Assist in the design and execution of verification tests within the EMT simulation and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) platforms.

• Work collaboratively with both internal and external teams to identify system requirements and ensure our solution meets and exceeds project expectations.

⛳️ Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a Masters or Ph.D. program with a relevant research focus, possessing a robust background in power systems or power electronics*.

• Strong enthusiasm for renewable energy, energy storage, and the data center industry*.

• Technical proficiency in grid-forming and grid-following inverters, power plant controllers, DC/DC converters, and solid-state transformers.

• Experience with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing, preferably on OPAL-RT or alternative platforms such as Typhoon and RTDS*.

• Familiarity with PSCAD, PSS/E, and other power system modeling software*.

• Proven experience in designing, testing, analyzing, and evaluating power electronics systems (AC/DC and DC/DC converters)*.

• Background in testing inverter control board gate drivers and protection circuits*.

• Knowledge of power semiconductor devices such as SiC and IGBT*.

• Understanding of relevant industry standards including UL 1741, IEEE 1547, and IEEE 2800.

• Proficient with Matlab/Simulink and embedded control design experience in C/C++, preferably with TI C2000 DSP*.

• Experience in voltage source inverter control interfaces like PWM and ADC; communication interfaces including IPC, CAN, and ETH*.

• No travel requirement.

• Ability to thrive in fast-paced, rapidly growing environments.
