This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Support program evaluation or research planning and design, conduct literature reviews, collect data, perform statistical and qualitative analyses, and draft manuscripts.
• Acquire and apply project management skills.
• Create communication plans for both field-facing and public-facing research initiatives.
• Engage in webinars, conferences, and other forums for disseminating research outcomes.
• Participate in internal meetings, including Strategy Vertical discussions and collaborations with programmatic teams.
• Assist with various tasks and projects as required.
• Currently pursuing an academic degree or certificate program, preferably at the graduate or advanced undergraduate (junior/senior year) level.
• Candidates not currently enrolled in an educational program may still be considered.
• Proficient in Excel, including the ability to create and format spreadsheets, sort and filter data, utilize simple formulas for basic calculations, and generate basic charts.
• Strong critical thinking abilities.
• Capable of working independently as a self-starter.

• Coursework in research methods, statistics, data science, or related fields is advantageous.
• Familiarity with statistical software such as SPSS, Stata, or R is a plus.
• Background in program evaluation, research design, or data collection is beneficial.
• Awareness of animal welfare topics through academic studies, volunteering, or professional experience is desirable.
• Interests in animal welfare that align with current ASPCA research themes are favorable.
• Availability during some weekday hours (Monday-Friday) for meetings.
• One semester internship with the possibility of extension based on the availability of the Strategy team.
• Compensation of $18.00-$20.00 per hour, contingent on location, and not below the applicable local minimum wage.
• A laptop will be provided for work purposes.
