This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Tennessee.
• Accountable for the design, testing, installation, and maintenance of systems or equipment that oversee, manage, and automate industrial processes or machinery.
• Tasked with the design and analysis of both safety and non-safety related Instrumentation & Control (I&C) systems for nuclear and commercial projects.
• Frequently collaborates with other technical disciplines (mechanical, nuclear, operations, and electrical engineering teams) for I&C design and consultation.
• Utilizes knowledge and experience, industry best practices, regulatory guidance, codes and standards, and sound engineering judgment to guarantee that designs comply with international regulatory criteria and industry best practices.
• Develops control system designs, including Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, specifically for nuclear facilities.
• Conducts performance analysis, identifies faults, and resolves issues to ensure optimal plant operation.
• Ensures that all systems adhere to nuclear safety regulations, industry standards, and quality assurance requirements.
• Formulates and implements maintenance, testing, and startup procedures; verifies system readiness throughout the equipment's lifecycle.
• Prepares and maintains technical documentation, including P&IDs, loop diagrams, and qualification test plans.
• Collaborates within multi-discipline teams on project-based tasks and ensures the integration of design across various disciplines.
• May provide mentoring and quality reviews of junior colleagues' work as necessary.
• Adheres to assigned schedules, ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of work while initiating corrective actions to address delays.
• Receives instruction, guidance, and direction from senior engineers and completes assigned tasks.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.
• A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or a related technical or engineering field is required.
• A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience is necessary.
• Experience in the nuclear industry is preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
• Capable of completing complex technical tasks with minimal supervision.
• Advanced knowledge and practical application of fundamental principles and concepts related to instrumentation, control, and electrical design.
• Experience in supporting Human Factors analysis of plant systems is beneficial.
• Familiarity with Cyber Security requirements for nuclear facilities is advantageous.
• Knowledge of commissioning or tuning integrated plant control systems is a plus.
• Practical understanding of licensing standards and regulatory processes is required.
• Proficient in applying industry codes and standards (IEEE, IEC, EPRI, ANSI, ISA, IAEA).
