Instructional Designer I – Front Desk/Scheduling/Registration

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado.

📋 Description

• Assist in addressing the educational needs of front desk, scheduling, and registration personnel.

• Design, develop, and implement communication and training for users of Epic (the electronic health record system utilized at Denver Health).

• Create and sustain documentation, curriculums, and e-learning formats (blended, synchronous, and asynchronous learning).

• Assess the effectiveness of training programs, review and evaluate work, and provide performance reports.

• Documentation and materials creation and upkeep - Design, develop, monitor, evaluate, enhance, and maintain training curriculums, eLearning modules, curriculums and classes, as well as materials such as job aids, bulletins, and huddle sheets, based on workflow research, collaboration with stakeholders, and a comprehensive understanding of the Epic software.

• Analyze content, target audience, job tasks, and learner environments to determine suitable instructional strategies and modalities.

• Investigate system updates in vendor tools to discover educational and change management opportunities and risks.

• Deliver content tailored to meet the needs of a diverse range of adult learners.

• Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs), analysts, and team members to ensure training outcomes align with organizational goals and implemented solutions.

• Utilize the Learning Management System (LMS) for delivering training and tracking reporting outcomes.

• Regularly evaluate work to identify areas for improvement.

• Support the educational development of best practices.

• Communication, facilitation, and presentation - Deliver content by leading classes and labs, and making both formal and informal presentations to leadership, team members, and end users.

• Acquire knowledge of curriculum, systems, and roles necessary for scheduling, coordinating, and delivering train-the-trainer classes, classroom training, and virtual training to users across various roles in supported applications.

• Project Management - Oversee timelines, resources, and milestones of assigned projects. Communicate training plans to project managers and stakeholders.

• Liaise, rounding, help tickets, and At The Elbow (ATE) support - Serve as a liaison with users, dedicating time to understand their needs and fostering relationships through effective interpersonal skills and consistent communication.

• Work tracking and documentation - Employ problem/request tracking tools to keep documentation up to date on all assigned tasks. Complete work status and time allocation documentation.

• Maintenance and enhancements - Adhere to standards and expectations for the annual review and update of all content: job aids, tipsheets, curriculum, training environment build, LMS content, etc. Analyze the value of current offerings using available data and identify opportunities for improvement.

• Learning and uptraining - Participate in classes, pass tests, shadow users, and become a workflow expert for the Epic applications assigned for learning. Complete required proficiency for assigned Epic applications and achieve certification in those applications.


⛳️ Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED is required.

• 1-3 years of experience in adult education (healthcare experience preferred) is required, -OR- 5+ years of experience in healthcare may be considered in place of formal adult education experience, provided that at least some of that time involved training peers or new employees is required, -OR- 6+ years of secondary education experience accepted in lieu of adult education experience is required.

• A team-oriented and self-motivated individual with the ability to manage multiple projects.

• Capability to cultivate strong relationships, gain buy-in, and effectively collaborate with a diverse range of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and stakeholders, as well as communicate with both technical and non-technical personnel throughout the organization.

• Application of adult learning theory.

• Strong communication and organizational skills are essential.

• Exceptional oral and written presentation and communication abilities.

• Strong negotiation skills and the capacity to influence others without direct authority.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required.

• Experience in instructional writing for digital media.

• Ability to prioritize tasks and make sound decisions with minimal supervision.

• Familiarity with specific healthcare industry Epic (or other EHR) applications is preferred.

• Experience with Adobe Creative Suite products is preferred.
