Fleet Safety, Compliance, Training Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.

📋 Description

• Oversee safety management for the SWTO Fleet Operations team.

• Support a comprehensive strategy for fleet safety management.

• Ensure adherence to all relevant regulations along with Company policies and practices.

• Collaborate with Fleet Operations partners on daily safety, compliance, and training initiatives.

• Respond to and assist in managing safety incidents while coordinating efforts to reduce damages, claims, and injuries.

• Foster a positive safety culture that recognizes and rewards safe behaviors and work practices.

• Direct Company activities related to safety incident management oversight, including investigation, root cause analysis, and administrative tasks such as safety incident cost claims.

• Ensure the accuracy of system data and share results and trends with operational stakeholders.

• Maintain and update all driver qualification (DQ) files, including necessary regulatory training and credential management.

• Educate all Fleet Operations partners on effectively conducting and overseeing the Fleet Safety Observation Program, which includes managing Direct Safety Observations (DSO), Job Safety Observations (JSO), and Vehicle Safety Inspections (VSI).


⛳️ Requirements

• Preferred Bachelor's degree or an associate degree in Logistics or Industrial Safety.

• A minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience.

• Familiarity with federal, state, and local fleet and safety regulatory requirements (USDOT, FMCSA, OSHA, PHMSA, etc.).

• Knowledge and experience with transportation systems and technologies, including but not limited to: Electronic driver logs (ELD), Driver Video Systems, Trimble Fleet Mobility (also known as PeopleNet), TMW, Transportation Management Systems (TMS), Bendix Fusions, and Samsara.

• Strong skills in leadership, collaboration, analysis, influence, interpersonal communication, and organization.
