This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Develop, oversee, and sustain course shells within the Learning Management System (LMS) to ensure user-friendly navigation, organization, and consistency.

• Partner with instructional designers, educators, and content developers to upload, assess, modify, and organize course materials.

• Diagnose and fix any technical issues concerning course shells and user access.

• Assist in coordinating the transition of master course shells to active course sections each semester.

• Work alongside cross-functional teams, including IT, training coordinators, and subject matter experts, to maintain, enhance, and update online course content.

• Provide ongoing support to tackle questions, concerns, and technical challenges related to the LMS and associated technologies.

• Aid in the continuous improvement of accessible course delivery within the LMS by implementing knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Title II Regulations and accessibility standards.

• Contribute to instructional design initiatives based on departmental requirements and project needs.

• Collaborate with programs and instructional designers to uphold course quality, drive continuous improvement efforts, assist with faculty training, and implement strategies that bolster student retention and program growth.

• Plan, create, develop, and implement instructional materials in an online format, either independently or as part of a collaborative design team.

• Support the integrity of course development projects through systematic design and ongoing quality enhancement efforts.

• Enhance the design, development, and delivery of online courses by applying knowledge of ADA Title II and relevant accessibility standards.

• Foster relationships with other instructional support services to optimally serve our stakeholders.

• Aid in the creation, dissemination, and enforcement of instructional design policies and procedures.

• Other duties as assigned.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.

• At least three (3) years of experience in instructional design, including needs assessment, material development, and deployment.

• Experience in project management, ideally within instructional design contexts.

• Proficiency in aligning online educational technologies with instructional objectives.

• Familiarity with learning management systems and tools.

• Strong verbal and written communication abilities.

• Outstanding organizational skills.

• Dedication to customer service and team collaboration in a service-oriented environment.

• Excellent interpersonal skills.

• Capacity to collaborate effectively within an academic community and with diverse stakeholder groups, including faculty, staff, and technical teams.

• Ability to interpret client requirements and produce instructional materials accordingly.

• Skill in managing multiple projects concurrently and meeting deadlines.

• Capability to monitor, complete, and communicate progress on assigned tasks, including providing regular updates to project leaders and stakeholders.

• Proven adaptability and willingness to learn new processes and tools.

• Effective negotiation skills.

• Must be enterprising, diplomatic, and proactive in addressing challenges.

• Ability to work independently to identify and resolve complex issues while adhering to established procedures and guidance.

• Ability to function as a lead or member of a project team and contribute effectively.

• Comprehensive knowledge of current learning and instructional theories and principles, particularly those relevant to E-learning.

• Understanding of information architecture principles and methods.

• High proficiency with tools that aid in the design of instructional materials (such as storyboards, flowcharts, assessments, etc.).

• Demonstrated ability to apply creative problem-solving and instructional design strategies to craft engaging and learner-centered instructional materials.

• Experience in writing HTML, along with familiarity with HTML editors, productivity software (including word processors, spreadsheets, databases, and presentation tools), and multimedia software such as Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, Articulate 360, Camtasia, Google Tools, and others.

• Experience with web-based learning management systems.

• Awareness of emerging technologies relevant to teaching and E-learning.

• Basic understanding of website coding and structure troubleshooting.

• Fundamental knowledge of streaming audio and video, including compression methods, file types, and formats.

• Familiarity with graphic design elements suited for online instruction.

• Working knowledge of ADA Title II requirements and their application in digital learning settings.

• Understanding of WCAG 2.2 guidelines, with the ability to apply accessibility standards to update existing course materials and create new accessible instructional content.

• Knowledge of how various E-learning technologies can support instructional objectives.

• Familiarity with artificial intelligence technologies and their application in the instructional design and development process.
