This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.
• Manage liability and property claims within assigned authority under close supervision.
• Address coverage and liability concerns in line with relevant state insurance laws, regulations, and procedures.
• Conduct investigations and adjudicate claims while ensuring adherence to statutory laws.
• Confirm coverage, establish and maintain reserves, secure recorded statements, and prepare and process correspondence, reports, and records.
• Gather information to assess liability and document claim files.
• Facilitate claim processing with other departments and engage external experts when necessary.
• Establish communication with all parties involved in claims.
• Assess and negotiate claims, identify subrogation opportunities, and take appropriate actions.
• Set up or issue settlement payments using approved methods or decline payments within designated authority.
• Address inquiries from policyholders, agents, insurance carriers, claimants, assigned experts, and others.
• Maintain a thorough understanding of liability laws, motor vehicle codes, no-fault, medical management, and FPB laws applicable to each state.
• Respond to intercompany arbitration applications with supervisor guidance and file necessary contentions and supporting documents.
• Participate in industry-related training programs and research policy updates, interpretations, and legislation.
• Provide assistance for property claims during peak volume periods.
• High school diploma or GED along with two years of relevant claims handling or customer service experience, or an equivalent educational background is required.
• A Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree is preferred.
• External applicants must obtain all necessary state licensing within 45 days of employment; internal applicants have 90 days.
• Successful completion of Introduction to Insurance (INTRO) and Introduction to Claims (AIC 30) is preferred.
• Access to internet service with minimum speeds of 50 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload is required.
• Ability to work the primary schedule of 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, Eastern Time.
• Rotating weekday evening and Saturday shifts are necessary based on business and service-level needs.
• Regular and predictable attendance is expected.
• Frequent manual keying, data entry, inputting information, and computer use are part of the job.
