Inpatient Medical Coder – DRG Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Evaluate and analyze intricate records to accurately bill for Trauma 1 facility inpatient services.

• Assign and sequence appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes in accordance with third-party payer requirements.

• Seek clarification when faced with conflicting, ambiguous, or unclear documentation.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of inpatient coding experience within a Trauma 1 environment.

• Possession of RHIA, RHIT, and/or CCS, CIC certification.

• Excellent communication, analytical, and research abilities with a strong attention to detail.

• Proven knowledge of coding principles related to facility diagnosis, procedure coding, and DRG assignment.

• Understanding of legal and policy regulations relevant to coding.

• Familiarity with appropriate reference materials, standards, and guidelines for coding.

• Experience with various EMRs and encoders; or the capability to learn quickly.

• Knowledge of confidentiality requirements.
