Inpatient Coding Auditor – DRG Validation

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Evaluate inpatient medical records to ensure accurate DRG assignment and compliance with coding standards.

• Examine patient charts to detect inconsistencies in coding or clinical documentation.

• Guarantee coding precision in line with CMS regulations and established industry coding guidelines.

• Perform second-level assessments of DRGs, discharge statuses, and Present on Admission (POA) indicators before billing.

• Work collaboratively with coding teams and clinical personnel to address documentation and coding inquiries.

• Engage in coding audits and initiatives aimed at quality enhancement.

• Investigate and respond to coding or documentation denials concerning DRG assignments.

• Offer guidance and training to coding personnel regarding best practices in documentation and coding.

• Assist in ensuring regulatory adherence and support internal audit processes.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in inpatient coding.

• Proficiency in DRG validation, auditing, or coding quality review.

• Strong knowledge of clinical documentation and standards for coding compliance.

• Capability to work autonomously in a remote setting.

• Excellent analytical and communication abilities.

• An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or a related discipline is preferred.

• Candidates must possess at least one of the following credentials: RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC, CCS-P.
