This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Uganda.
• Formulate and implement the multi-year strategy for the Innovation Lab, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and defining the Lab’s OKRs.
• Act as a representative for StrongMinds in pertinent global forums, working groups, and conferences focusing on mental health innovation, digital health, and health systems enhancement.
• Provide insights, risks, and strategic options to the Global Leadership Team and the Board of Trustees.
• Spearhead the redesign of StrongMinds’ core delivery models to significantly decrease cost-per-client while upholding essential treatment quality and equity standards.
• Ensure that simplified models are in line with government priorities and health systems, facilitating clear transitions of model ownership to government partners.
• Create evidence-based products for governments, NGOs, and funders to comprehend and adopt the optimized models.
• Recruit, nurture, and guide a high-achieving, multidisciplinary Innovation Lab team, fostering a culture of curiosity, rigor, and swift iteration.
• Provide strategic oversight across Research, Digital Transformation, Programs, and Country Teams, addressing cross-functional challenges that impact the execution of innovation priorities.
• A Master’s degree in public health, mental health, behavioral science, health innovation, international development, health economics, or a related field.
• A PhD along with a clinical background in mental health (e.g., psychology, psychiatry, clinical social work) is a significant asset.
• At least 8 years of progressive experience, including a minimum of 3 years in a senior leadership position.
• Demonstrated experience in managing a portfolio of experiments or pilots, with the discipline to eliminate ineffective approaches and enhance successful ones.
• Strong comprehension of digital health, AI-driven solutions, and their implementation in low- and middle-income country health contexts.
• Practical experience in the implementation or evaluation of digital health tools is highly preferred.
• Proven history of collaborating with governments on health systems integration, model adoption, or policy formulation.
• Experience in building and leading teams within a start-up or innovation lab setting, including talent recruitment and fostering a culture of experimentation.
