This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +25 more states.
• Oversee the sampling and qualification services for injection stretch blow mold new, replacement, and refurbished tools.
• Enhance molding processes to achieve dimensional limits while adhering to or exceeding designed cycle times.
• Develop and sustain standardized Master Process Sheets and Process of Adjustments.
• Participate in new project meetings, design evaluations, and tool specification discussions.
• Educate both salaried and hourly plant staff on machine processing and recommendations for tool design changes.
• Offer manufacturing support addressing machine, process, tooling, and design challenges.
• Assist in equipment, process, capability assessments, and tooling qualifications/validations at both plant and vendor sites.
• Create and manage data resources related to packaging, machinery, and processes.
• Promote, document, and share best practices across manufacturing locations.
• Execute Design of Experiments and R&D process capability studies.
• Enhance technical skills through technology-platform training, technical collaboration networks, and mentorship.
• Maintain databases that track customer injection/blow mold tooling and production-system conditions.
• Develop and uphold training programs for machine operation, process management, and troubleshooting.
• Facilitate collaboration with corporate and plant quality teams, R&D, Innovation, and Commercial teams.
• Suggest tooling and equipment enhancements or replacements based on engineering research findings.
• Collaborate with Plant Operations to minimize scrap and boost line efficiency.
• Establish and maintain technical specifications, standards, and documentation at the division level.
• Regularly communicate with plants regarding project outcomes and issue resolution.
• Lead in-house training on injection/blow mold tooling maintenance, safety, operations, process control, and upkeep.
• Evaluate plant technical teams and identify necessary training or hands-on experiences to bridge skill gaps.
• Serve as a technical liaison between Operations Engineering and customers to ascertain production-line system requirements.
• Identify and assess alternative actions and develop new procedures as necessary.
• A Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering is preferred, or equivalent experience is acceptable.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively understand, influence, drive, and negotiate with both internal and external customers.
• Exceptional management, communication, and interpersonal skills necessary to influence and manage various resources.
• Robust technical, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
• Capability to work independently with minimal oversight.
• At least five years of processing experience in the plastics packaging industry is preferred.
• Experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC) is advantageous.
• Familiarity with Injection Stretch (one-step) or Blow Mold machine operations and troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of hydraulic circuits and process control.
• Practical skills to operate injection or blow mold machine platforms.
• Experience in mold design, hot runner functionality testing, including multi-material systems.
• Understanding of process fundamentals and optimization techniques.
• Familiarity with Quality Assurance Systems.
• Awareness of system interfaces and interactions for optimal performance.
• Strong customer service orientation and a high level of professionalism.
• Readiness and ability to travel 50% to 75% of the time.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States.
