This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Manage collection activities pertaining to accounts receivable across various site locations, payors, and therapies to ensure accurate and timely payments.
• Track aging reports and key AR metrics to pinpoint trends, risks, and areas for enhancement.
• Ensure that assigned accounts are thoroughly researched and addressed, including the identification of billing errors, short payments, overpayments, denials/rejections, unpaid claims, and discrepancies in cash application.
• Oversee the appeals and payer follow-up processes to guarantee that deadlines are adhered to and the necessary documentation is submitted.
• Review and authorize potential adjustments and refund requests in compliance with company policies.
• Document all relevant phone conversations and collection activities clearly within company systems.
• Identify patterns in payer denials, payment delays, or billing issues and collaborate with billing and revenue cycle teams to implement corrective measures.
• Ensure that all collection activities align with federal, state, and local regulations, third-party payer requirements, and company policies.
• Collaborate closely with insurance companies, patients, and other personnel to resolve escalated account issues.
• Prepare reports and communicate the performance of collections, associated risks, and opportunities for improvement to leadership.
• Participate in the recruitment, onboarding, and training processes for collection staff.
• Utilize payer portals, electronic tools, and internal systems to track claims status and expedite the resolution of outstanding balances.
• Assist with special payer projects, audits, or process improvement initiatives related to collections and reimbursement.
• Remain updated on payer guidelines, billing deadlines, and appeal requirements.
• Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of collection specialists to ensure productivity, accuracy, and compliance with company policies and procedures.
• Assign and oversee workload, ensuring prompt follow-up on accounts receivable and payer issues.
• Provide training and ongoing support to staff regarding payer policies, appeal processes, and best practices in collections.
• Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback to foster staff development and enhance performance.
• Act as a point of escalation for intricate collection issues, payer disputes, and challenges in account resolution.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
• Prior experience in Home Infusion and Specialty Pharmacy is required.
• A minimum of 5 years of progressive healthcare collections or revenue cycle experience, including leadership or supervisory roles is necessary.
• High School Diploma or GED is required; an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in business, Healthcare Administration, or a related field is preferred.
• Proven experience in managing collections teams, including coaching, performance management, and workflow oversight.
• Strong understanding of healthcare billing, reimbursement processes, HCPC coding, and medical terminology.
• Experience with CPR+/CareTend systems is preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze aging reports, recognize trends, and implement strategies to enhance collections performance and reduce AR days.
• Excellent analytical, mathematical, and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal, leadership, and organizational capabilities with a knack for collaborating across billing, reimbursement, and operations teams.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, solve problems, manage multiple initiatives, and achieve departmental performance goals.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
