This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Develop and implement Ferguson’s network security strategy.
• Build and lead a team of up to 6 associates through recruitment, hiring, training, coaching, development, and recognition of team members.
• Oversee operational support for network security systems, including after-hours on-call assistance.
• Create and update strategic roadmaps for the network security initiative.
• Supervise network security technologies such as firewalls, IDS, IPS, URL filtering, and VPN.
• Manage the design, implementation, and support of network security solutions for branches, data centers, and endpoints.
• Collaborate with engineering and operational teams to enhance processes and support the network.
• Lead significant network security projects.
• Establish and maintain relationships with vendors.
• Oversee the department budget and negotiate vendor contracts.
• Monitor emerging technologies, trends, issues, and solutions, assessing their relevance to Ferguson’s network security capabilities.
• Provide requirements for the technology selection process.
• Partner with architecture teams on blueprints and roadmaps for both current and future network needs.
• Work with delivery and operational teams to ensure new deployments are accompanied by appropriate support and run-book documentation.
• Ensure team members are trained for monitoring, ongoing support, routine engineering, and operation of new network security technologies.
• Comply with all policies, regulations, and procedures.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in implementing network defenses, including firewalls, network access control, intrusion detection, intrusion prevention, web application firewalls, web gateways, or proxies.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in implementing cloud network security.
• Experience in implementing Zero Trust or Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) network security architecture.
• Professional certifications preferred, such as Palo Alto Firewalls, Cisco Networking, and CISSP.
• Ability to organize and prioritize tasks effectively.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to create and deliver impactful presentations to groups.
• Proficient in using computers, tablets, and mobile devices efficiently.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office software, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Visio.
• Knowledge of project/task management systems preferred, such as ServiceNow, SharePoint, and Project.
• Ability to interpret site surveys and drawings to determine project requirements preferred.
• Experience with voice, data, and wireless technologies preferred.
