This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +2 more states.
• Designing and executing PLC/HMI (Programmable Logic Controllers/Human Machine Interface) code, including simulation and process commissioning at client locations.
• Crafting clear and well-organized Functional Specifications along with the necessary PLC/HMI programs while collaborating as a team member or serving as the technical lead.
• Collaborating with a team of Digital Manufacturing, Hardware, and Industrial IT engineers to deliver comprehensive solutions that fulfill customer requirements.
• Directly interacting with clients to gain a thorough understanding of their needs and to formulate a Functional Specification for the complete deliverable.
• Maintaining communication with customers throughout the project lifecycle and for a period following commissioning.
• Developing PLC/HMI code within a collaborative team setting using a modern software framework.
• Ensuring adherence to quality processes to provide zero-defect code to the customer during site installation.
• Working independently when necessary to provide solutions in specialized subject areas.
• Offering technical leadership as needed, incorporating system-level thinking and problem-solving methodologies.
• Coordinating with various disciplines and trades while overseeing the commissioning of projects.
• Up to 50% travel may be necessary for product lifecycle management, trade shows, or other related travel. A valid driver’s license is required.
• B.S. in Engineering (Electrical, Computer, Mechanical, or Chemical) or a related engineering discipline with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in industrial automation, OR an Associate Degree in Engineering Technology (Electrical, Computer, IT, or Electro-Mechanical) or a related engineering technology field with at least 5 years of relevant experience in industrial automation.
• Proven capability in technical leadership to guide and mentor team members involved in complex projects.
• Skilled in programming and delivering projects collaboratively within a team environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• Demonstrated curiosity and agility in addressing problems when facing new challenges.
• Persistent focus and determination to successfully complete challenges.
• Goal-oriented with a strong eagerness to learn new technologies and concepts.
• Familiarity with Six-Sigma or Lean methodologies.
• Experience working with live industrial control panels and components.
• Knowledge of Agile Scrum development processes.
• Proficiency with PLC platforms such as Rockwell Automation, ControlLogix, Siemens S7, etc.
• Experience with automatic PLC code generation tools like Rockwell Automation ACM.
• Familiarity with stand-alone and distributed HMI/SCADA platforms including FTView SE/ME, Siemens WinCC, Wonderware Intouch/System Platform, Ignition, etc.
• Experience with legacy PLCs and HMI/SCADA systems.
• Knowledge of VFDs, Process Instrumentation, Robotics/Servo Control, Valve Control, etc.
• Experience with Safety Control Systems, including PLCs and Relays.
• Familiarity with industrial networks for device control such as Ethernet/IP, Profibus PA/DP, ASi, IOLink, HART, DeviceNet, etc.
