Individual Consultant – Water Cooperation and Groundwater

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Thailand.

📋 Description

• Deliver technical expertise to facilitate the operationalization and execution of UNESCO’s elements under the GEF/FAO project.

• Assist in the integration of contributions into a cohesive and high-quality final TDA report.

• Create concept notes, agendas/programs, and summary reports for technical coordination meetings and workshops.

• Draft a concept note detailing the project’s knowledge management strategy.

• Capture key insights, best practices, and lessons learned from knowledge exchange and capacity-building initiatives.

• Formulate a stakeholder engagement strategy and action plan to guarantee the inclusive participation of relevant stakeholders.

• Develop two project proposals and a concept note for a regional training course.

⛳️ Requirements

• A master's degree or higher in Water Sciences, Water Management, Hydrogeology, Environmental Sciences, or related disciplines.

• At least 10 years of relevant experience in Water Sciences, with an emphasis on the assessment, management, and governance of aquifers, including conjunctive water management and transboundary situations.

• Previous experience with GEF projects, groundwater, and a geographical focus on the Mekong region and the Mediterranean region.

• Prior experience in a UN environment.

• Proven experience in providing technical assistance to national stakeholders, including government officials, national academics, and technical personnel from multilateral/bilateral organizations.

• Demonstrated ability to effectively plan, organize, and manage multiple deadlines.

• Proven capacity to work efficiently within a dynamic and multicultural team setting.

• Exceptional coordination and interpersonal skills.

• Advanced computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word), and adeptness with communication tools (Microsoft Teams and Zoom).

• Excellent command of the English language, both written and spoken.
