This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.
• Manage the enhancement of indirect tax data management, analytics, and reporting tools.
• Spearhead the selection, implementation, improvement, and upkeep of indirect tax technology solutions that support compliance, reporting, determination, and operational scalability.
• Develop and uphold indirect tax data governance standards, ensuring the quality, integrity, and consistency of data across systems and reporting processes.
• Serve as a liaison between Indirect Tax, Engineering, Finance Systems, GTM, and external consultants to facilitate effective technology adoption and scalable process design.
• Be a primary indirect tax stakeholder for new GTM initiatives, product launches, billing modifications, and strategic business efforts by evaluating indirect tax implications and outlining necessary system and process adjustments.
• Collaborate with Finance Systems, Engineering, and Enterprise Architecture teams to ensure indirect tax requirements are integrated into ERP, billing, procurement, and quote-to-cash workflows.
• Review and document essential indirect tax processes, pinpoint automation opportunities, and establish scalable technology solutions to enhance operational efficiency.
• Keep track of global indirect tax regulatory changes, including e-invoicing, CTC, SAF-T, and digital reporting mandates, ensuring systems and processes are compliant and scalable.
• Guarantee appropriate configuration, governance, and continuous optimization of indirect tax determination engines and associated reporting systems.
• Ensure accurate configuration and upkeep of e-invoicing, digital reporting, and indirect tax data exchange solutions.
• Optimize and automate processes for indirect tax return preparation, reconciliation, validation, and submission.
• Create scalable controls and monitoring processes to proactively detect indirect tax risks, data anomalies, and compliance gaps.
• Assess and utilize AI-enabled tax technologies and intelligent automation solutions to enhance scalability, accuracy, and operational efficiency.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to refine indirect tax workflows, reducing manual efforts by the indirect tax team and mitigating compliance risks.
• Offer training and guidance to internal teams on indirect tax technology tools and best practices for automation.
• Remain updated on emerging trends in indirect tax technology, regulatory changes, and innovation prospects.
• Assist in indirect tax compliance, audit readiness, and controversy management through scalable improvements in technology, data, and processes.
• Support special tax projects as they arise.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or a related field.
• 6+ years of experience in indirect tax technology, indirect tax operations, or a related position.
• Professional certifications such as CPA, CTA, ACA, or ACCA relevant to the location (required).
• In-depth understanding of global indirect tax regulations including VAT, GST, sales tax, e-invoicing, Continuous Transaction Controls (CTC), SAF-T, and digital tax reporting mandates.
• Practical experience with tax engines (e.g., Vertex, Avalara, ONESOURCE) and ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite).
• Strong analytical and technical abilities, including SQL, tax data analysis, and visualization tools like Looker, Snowflake, Power BI, Tableau, or Alteryx.
• Background in workflow automation, intelligent process automation, AI-enabled tax technologies, or similar operational efficiency projects.
• Familiarity with APIs, middleware, system integrations, and interconnected finance technology ecosystems.
• Experience with tax data governance, transactional data quality, and process standardization efforts.
• Strong project management and stakeholder engagement skills, with a record of leading cross-functional global projects.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of translating tax and regulatory requirements into scalable technology solutions.
