This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Act as the junior attorney specializing in renewable energy transactions, focusing particularly on tax equity deals (both investor- and sponsor-side) and tax credit transfer transactions.
• Perform legal research and in-depth analysis on intricate tax issues.
• Prepare legal memoranda, opinions, and tax-related documentation.
• Work collaboratively with clients, CEC colleagues, and other professionals on tax-related matters.
• Support tax due diligence reviews and the preparation of transactional documentation.
• Keep informed about developments in tax laws and regulations.
• 1–3 years of experience at a law firm providing services to clients in the renewable energy sector and related industries.
• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• LL.M. in Taxation from an accredited law school.
• Substantial experience in advising on tax issues related to renewable energy projects, including the research and drafting of legal opinions, with knowledge of Investment and Production Tax Credits, tax equity and tax credit transfer transactions, construction analyses, and associated matters.
• Strong familiarity with Subchapter K.
• Capability to analyze complex tax issues and offer practical, business-oriented solutions, including support for broader transactional tax matters across various firm practice groups.
• Proven deal management skills, along with excellent drafting, communication, negotiation, and analytical abilities.
• Proficient in legal research and producing quality written work.
• Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively in a team-focused environment.
• Admission to, and in good standing with, the Bar in the applicant’s state of residence.
• Demonstrated dedication to and alignment with the firm’s mission.
• A requirement of 1,200 annual billable hours, with bonuses available for exceeding this target and for the origination of new clients and matters based on a percentage of total revenue received.
• A competitive base salary starting at $160,000.
