Incident Commander

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Foster and enhance collaboration with fellow Incident Commanders, Customer Support, as well as Application and Engineering teams to effectively lead real-time incident management.

• Provide leadership in creating Practices, Frameworks, Process Flows, Templates, and Process Guides.

• Pursue continuous improvement and refinement of the internal framework, methodologies, processes, and tools.

• Develop and maintain essential practical capabilities.

• Work alongside SRE Teams and Infrastructure teams to identify requirements and gaps that may lead to downtime or blind spots.

• Suggest innovative solutions that empower the organization to achieve its objectives and goals.

• Encourage opportunities for Continuous Service Improvements.

• Manage and revise Root Cause Analysis documentation.

• Direct SRE communications to stakeholders through E-mail, Slack, and Teams in a timely manner.

• Lead initiatives to enhance JIRA Release Ticket management, ensuring quality and alignment with Incident management communication that supports SLAs.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in a similar or incident management role.

• Familiarity and understanding of Containerization, preferably with Docker and Kubernetes.

• Knowledge of automation tools and configuration management, including infrastructure as code tools like Terraform, Ansible, and Helm.

• Proficiency in at least one programming language.

• Comfortable working within Linux environments and meeting their requirements.

• Experience with AWS, GCP, and on-premises environments.

• Ability to work autonomously and rapidly acquire new skills with minimal supervision.

• Capacity to manage multiple projects at the same time.

• Willingness to prioritize ad-hoc tasks as they arise.

• A tech-savvy individual who is enthusiastic about learning new technologies and tools.

• Outgoing personality with the ability to maintain a conversation naturally to elicit necessary information.

• A degree in computer science, engineering, or equivalent experience.

• Nice to have: Experience with Postgres, MySQL, Elastic Search, Kafka, Redis, Terragrunt, Prometheus, Python, and Talos Linux.
